American impressionist Edward Henry Potthast was born on Jun 10th, 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He first off showed his artistic side when he was model boylike and would combine his watercolours to come up with some of the most beautiful, dynamic colors. At an early day his family sent him off to comp school. It was there that he met Thomas Satterwhite Noble, a portrait painter who helped Potthast expand his adoration for oil painting.

When Edward turned 16 he began an apprenticeship at a lithographic firm. Lithography was the culminating craft to also nurture his feeling for mixing paints and inks and he continued lithography until he was 39.

In his delayed twenties, Edward went off to Munich to announce painting. Approximating distinct artist before him, it was his clock in Europe that he was able to evolve his own style and base a designation for himself. When he returned to the United States in 1895, he settled down in Inexperienced York and opened a studio.

By this time, Edward Potthast had alter to a full-time artist and no longer needed the lithography function to survive.
